Palladium(II) chloride
CAS 7647-10-1
Palladium(II) chloride is the foundational palladium salt — the entry point from refined metal into virtually every other Pd compound, and a catalyst precursor in its own right for Wacker oxidation, carbonylation and electroless plating baths.

Where PdCl₂ is used
Universal Pd precursor
Dissolved in HCl as H₂PdCl₄ or activated with ligands in situ, PdCl₂ is the starting material for Pd/C manufacture, Pd(OAc)₂, phosphine complexes and plating chemistry — buying at this stage captures the lowest conversion cost per gram of palladium.
Wacker–Tsuji oxidation and carbonylation
With copper co-catalyst, PdCl₂ converts terminal olefins to methyl ketones; it also serves in alkoxycarbonylation and oxidative carbonylation processes practiced at industrial scale.
Electroless plating and surface activation
PdCl₂-based activator baths seed electroless nickel and copper deposition on plastics and ceramics — a core step in PCB through-hole metallization and EMI-shield plating.
Storage and shipping
Storage. Store sealed and dry. Hygroscopic; stable indefinitely when kept moisture-free.
Shipping. Classified as corrosive for transport in most pack sizes; shipped with UN-approved packaging, SDS and DG declaration where required.

Frequently asked questions
How is PdCl₂ priced?
On contained metal: 60% Pd content at the day's fixing plus a small conversion charge. Because conversion cost is the lowest of any Pd compound, PdCl₂ is the cheapest way to buy palladium in chemical form.
Do you supply solution grades?
Yes — H₂PdCl₄ solution at customer-specified Pd concentration for plating and catalyst-manufacture customers, shipped in DG-compliant packaging.
What feeds your PdCl₂ production?
Both primary metal and certified recycled palladium, each lot with full assay traceability. Customers with origin requirements can specify primary-only feed.
Can you credit our Pd-bearing waste against PdCl₂ supply?
Yes — spent activator baths, plating residues and catalyst waste are assayed on receipt and credited at the agreed fixing, closing the loop on your Pd inventory.
