Dodecacarbonyltetrarhodium

Rh₄(CO)₁₂ is the zero-valent rhodium cluster carbonyl — the highest-metal-content soluble rhodium carbonyl at ~55% Rh, used in carbonylation and hydroformylation research and as a precursor to supported rhodium cluster catalysts.

Where Rh₄(CO)₁₂ is used
Hydroformylation and carbonylation research
A well-defined Rh(0) cluster used to study and run olefin hydroformylation, silylformylation and CO-insertion chemistry without an in-situ reduction step.
Supported cluster catalysts
Deposits onto oxide supports to give atomically dispersed and small-cluster rhodium catalysts studied for CO conversion, NO reduction and single-site catalysis.
Rhodium film deposition
A volatile, halide-free source for rhodium CVD where chloride residues are unacceptable.
Storage and shipping
Storage. Store cold (2–8 °C), sealed under inert gas, protected from light; air- and heat-sensitive.
Shipping. Ships in sealed glass under nitrogen with cold packs where required; CO-release handling note supplied with SDS.
Packaging. 250 mg · 1 g · 5 g · 25 g

Frequently asked questions
What handling precautions apply?
The cluster releases carbon monoxide on decomposition and degrades in air — handle under inert atmosphere in a fume hood and store cold. Lots ship argon-packed with production date on the COA.
How is pricing structured?
Rhodium is the most volatile-priced PGM. Every quote states its fixing reference and validity window; we recommend locking the metal leg the day you confirm the order rather than the day you pay.
What documentation is included?
Every lot ships with a certificate of analysis stating assayed metal content, plus an English SDS. ICP trace-metal panels are available on request.
Do you take back spent material?
Yes — residues, spent catalyst and off-spec lots are assayed on receipt and the recovered rhodium credited against your next order.
