Iridium(III) chloride (low-water grade)
CAS 14996-61-3
Low-water iridium trichloride is the high-assay entry into iridium chemistry — carrying ≥60% Ir per gram, it minimizes freight and metal-accounting overhead for coating, catalyst and complex-synthesis users who can work from a less soluble grade.

Where IrCl₃ is used
Electrode coating formulations
Dissolved in HCl or organic coating systems for IrO₂–Ta₂O₅ anode production, where the low-water grade improves formulation weight accuracy.
Iridium complex synthesis
The economical starting point for [Ir(COD)Cl]₂, Ir(acac)₃ and cyclometalated OLED intermediates when a soluble hydrate is not required.

Frequently asked questions
How is pricing structured?
Iridium is among the scarcest PGMs with sharply moving prices, so the metal leg is quoted against the day's Ir price on assayed content and locked at order confirmation; conversion is a stated fabrication charge.
Low-water grade or hydrate?
The hydrate (CAS 13569-57-8) dissolves faster and suits aqueous synthesis; this low-water grade carries more iridium per gram and stores indefinitely. We stock both — state the downstream chemistry in your inquiry.
Do you take back iridium residues?
Yes — at iridium's price level recovery is almost always worthwhile. Residues, spent coatings and off-spec lots are assayed on receipt and the iridium credited against future supply.
