Chlorotris(triphenylphosphine)rhodium(I) (Wilkinson's catalyst)
CAS 14694-95-2
Wilkinson's catalyst is the founding homogeneous hydrogenation catalyst — still the practical choice for chemoselective alkene hydrogenation, hydroacylation and hydroboration where heterogeneous Pd or Pt would over-reduce.

Where RhCl(PPh₃)₃ is used
Chemoselective hydrogenation
Reduces terminal and cis-alkenes while sparing nitro, carbonyl, cyano and aryl-halide functionality — selectivity that makes it a standard tool in multi-functional API intermediates.
Hydroacylation and decarbonylation
The classic catalyst for intramolecular hydroacylation of 4-pentenals and for aldehyde decarbonylation in synthesis, both textbook Rh(I) transformations.
Storage and shipping
Storage. Store sealed under inert gas, cool and dark; solutions are air-sensitive.

Frequently asked questions
How is pricing structured?
Quotes reference the day's metal fixing on assayed contained metal plus a stated conversion charge, and can be locked at order confirmation for recurring volumes.
What documentation is included?
Every lot ships with a certificate of analysis stating assayed metal content, plus an English SDS. ICP trace-metal panels are available on request.
Do you take back spent material?
Yes — spent catalyst, residues and off-spec lots are assayed on receipt and the recovered metal credited against your next order, closing the loop on your metal inventory.
