Platinum(II) chloride
CAS 10025-65-7
PtCl₂ is the organic-route platinum(II) source — the starting point for hydrosilylation catalyst synthesis, π-activation gold-style Pt catalysis and organoplatinum chemistry where an anhydrous, halide-defined precursor is wanted.

Where PtCl₂ is used
Homogeneous Pt catalysis
An active catalyst for alkyne activation, hydroamination and cycloisomerization chemistry, and the precursor to (COD)PtCl₂ and phosphine dichloroplatinum complexes used across catalysis research.
Hydrosilylation catalyst manufacture
Feeds the synthesis of Karstedt-type and Speier-type catalyst concentrates supplied to the silicone industry, where defined chloride stoichiometry controls activity.
Storage and shipping
Storage. Store sealed and dry; insoluble in water, dissolves in HCl and coordinating solvents.
Shipping. Ships by commercial courier with SDS.

Frequently asked questions
How is pricing structured?
Quotes reference the day's metal fixing on assayed contained metal plus a stated conversion charge, and can be locked at order confirmation for recurring volumes.
What documentation is included?
Every lot ships with a certificate of analysis stating assayed metal content, plus an English SDS. ICP trace-metal panels are available on request.
Do you take back spent material?
Yes — spent catalyst, residues and off-spec lots are assayed on receipt and the recovered metal credited against your next order, closing the loop on your metal inventory.
